Snack time yet?

So some people in this family always seem to want more to eat. Luckily the buffet is always close at hand!

The "Rose" parade

Too many diapers . . . so exhausting (for both of us)

First Doctor's Visit

We went for our 3-day post-partum check up yesterday. It was quite the morning. Rose is gaining weight again and was given an overall positive bill of health. She had to be woken up so it wasn't pretty! And of course there was a foot stick...I think it was worse for me than her.

And, of course, the guest of honor...

Four generations

So here are four generations of women: Marie (aka "Mom-Mom"), Michelle (d/b/a Grandma), Sara ("Mommy"), and our little Rose.

More pictures of Rose (at one day old)

Visiting with relatives

As most of you know, Sara and I have a lot of family in the area. They had been sitting in the family waiting room for hours before the delivery, and finally had a chance to come in and meet her.

Of course I had been there the whole time, so got to hold her as soon as they cleaned her up.

Just out of the womb

Here is a picture of Rose Marie, within seconds of her birth; the nurses had not even cleaned her off yet.

hoping to leave the hospital

Everything is coming together well. Rose has been checked by the pediatrician and he said she is cleared to go home. Now as soon as Sara is back from breastfeeding class and gets checked by thw doctor too, they should discharge us. I.can't wait to get a real bed to sleep in...

Ladies and gentlemen! We have-- a baby girl!

As of 11:05pm last night, weighing 8 pounds 15 ounces, with a total length of 21.25 inches, Rose Marie Skees was born. She's beautiful, of course (since she takes after her mother) and she has a hearty appetite (which would be my contribution).

Thanks so much to everyone for their prayers! We will post pictures soon after we return home.

posting from the delivery room

So, just to let everyone know, everything appears to be moving along nicely. We, of course, don't have an ETA but we will do our best to let everyone know the big news ASAP.

Here are the latest and greatest. These should be the last pics of me with the baby on the inside!

Dan is set to post pictures of the little one as soon as it happens, so check back sometime soon...

Everything is ready

We have arranged all the baby stuff we received - thanks to so many generous people in our lives! Now we are just anxiously awaiting the arrival of the slow poke.

As you can see the results of the gender poll are split 50/50. So I guess no one can really tell if it is a boy or girl.

Hopefully the next post will be from Dan with pictures of the baby!

Packed and ready to go!

Well, we are all packed and ready to go. We are just waiting (not very patiently, I might add) for baby to decide if it is ready yet. Pray for a speedy delivery!

Take the poll...

Scroll all the way down to the bottom to take a poll. We want to see how many people think we are having a boy or a girl.
If this drags on, we might have more polls - like when, how much the baby will weigh, etc!

Belly Painting

See below....

Belly Painting

So I got a little bored while waiting for baby to come...

Actually, a family friend who does face painting offered to do this for me and I thought, why not? It turned out really cute in the end. I felt bad washing it off, but it had to be done - I hadn't itched my belly in ages!

Still waiting...

Wait a minute . . .

So, something here doesn't look right. Although he does seem to take after me.

actual pregnancy pictures!

Okay, so Sara's been after me to post actual pictures of her pregnancy, so here they are!

nothing yet...

So I know that everyone is concerned that they might not hear about a pending delivery, but I wanted to assure you that the doctor has assured us that delivery is not imminent... Something about stork migration patterns, but I'm a guy so I don't really understand all of it.

You will all, of course, find out about any new baby very soon after I do, I promise!

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of the British Library from our recent trip across the pond.
