The Blizzard of '09 (Dec 19)

Trying to get out to shovel...this is our front stoop, halfway through!

Here is our backyard the next morning when it finally stopped snowing...almost two feet by my guess!

A first bath and a BIG helper!

James didn't really like his first bath but his second went much better. As you can see, he was much calmer if Rose was near by.

Rose is such a big helper these days. She is even putting the silverware away from the dishwasher. Cleaning is her specialty around the kitchen...of course she is really good at making a mess first!

Holiday Overload

Hi All, I know I have been delinquent in posting this month, so I will post some backlog over the next day or so as time on the computer allows! And yes, everyone got the baby question right, but they DO look like brother and sister.

Which one is which?

Sorry I dont have a good face picture on the top one, but still it is hard to tell which baby is Rose and which one is James. If only the hair didnt give it away...(Rose is on the bottom for those of you not really sure still!).

Fresh out of the oven!

Newest arrival in the hospital

Here's James Martin, born at 9:51pm Eastern, weighing in at a (hefty) 10 lbs 10 oz, and measuring an impressive 22 inches! He's built for Linebacker U. More to come as we welcome out newest addition.

Belly Paintings

We got our bellies painted late last week, just like I did with Rose. It is two baby feet with a henna meets tie dye effect. The bottom shot was one of those artsy things you could do with the camera. Rose also wanted her belly done, so she got a heart! Thanks Arla.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Here is our Tigger/tiger! She really enjoyed getting candy from all the neighbors. After every house she would say, "I want to do another door". This went on until she came back to our house and saw the big bowl. Then she just wanted to eat the candy! Of course she was the hit of the group as the youngest...and she always said bye at the end since she was the last to leave the door.

Happy Birthday Rose!

Rose turned the big '02' yesterday! She had quite the day, all the family in the area came over for dinner and cake. Rose picked out an Elmo theme, so we had balloons, plates, napkins, and a cake (by Nana). At the end of the gift opening, she kept asking for more. And this morning the first thing she did was go downstairs to play with her new toys.

Updates...

Rose attends her first birthday party; and eats all the food and doing exactly opposite what all the other kids are doing.
Sara with three weeks to go.

Too Cute

Talking on the phone...it seems to me that this was supposed to happen in, say, 10 years! Not now!

Someone fell asleep at lunch. I was reading the paper while she ate lunch, and next thing you know, her head is drooping towards the plate. I took off the bib and brought her up to bed after taking the picture of course! All we did was go to the park for a littl while this morning after the car appointment.

Daddy's Stay-cation

Since daddy doesn't get much time to go to the dentist, this was the perfect opportunity for him to squeeze an appointment in. As soon as he was done, Rose declared it was her turn and hopped up in the chair. I guess we had been reading too much of the Berenstein Bears Go To The Dentist! She was very still while the dentist counted her teeth and even scraped some food out of a particularly deep crevice. Then she wanted to help. Overall, a good first visit.

The next day we went to a great fall festival type place. They have about 20 slides, ranging in size from 4 feet to 100 feet! Rose wanted to do everyone of them, usually by herself. Daddy helped her get used to it, then down she went on her own. Of course they also had hay stacks to climb on and baby farm animals everywhere...look for a post on the baby pigs to come.

On our last day of Daddy time, we went to the last home game of the season. When some of the mascots came to the kids area (a great family stadium by the way!) Rose got a little scared and clung to Daddy for dear life. Still a good time was had by all...including ice cream in a baseball cap that Rose took home for her doll.

Just a regular week

Showing off her new hair clips. Yes, her hair is finally long enough to clip back!
Just relaxing on the swing with her feet crossed. Too cute to pass up the photo op.
Every morning after breakfast we have reading time. She sits down near all of her books and reads them one by one. After she is done flipping through a book she puts it to the side and says 'the end'. Then is off to the next one. And when she puts them away she likes for all the same types (Berenstein bears, Curious George, etc) to be together.

A true daddy...playing war board games with Rose's 'Baby'!

So now not only are they in straight lines, but organized by color!
