A Quick Vacation Highlights

The Rose River just in front of the lodge.

 A snapshot of Luray Caverns.

A funny sign at the farm.

 On the hay ride.

In the really cold pool (they just finished filling it from the river).

More to come later in the week.

Mary Crowning

Rose's Atrium Montessori class had a Mary May Crowning yesterday on their last day for the school year.  It was a beautiful day and the kids were super cute.  I love the last picture of the two of them!

Teacher Gifts

We made really cute gifts for the end of the school year for all her 'teachers'.  They turned out super cute.
Totally stole the idea from this website.

Rose Roller Skates

All decked out - check that stance, warrior skater girl!
with a death grip on mommy ;)
Trying it on her own - lots of concentration.

 Taking a break.
What James was doing while we went up and down the sidewalk.

'big' Brother James

James is already taking care of Rose in that 'big' brother way, even though he is younger.  Gotta love this shot.

Some cute James shots

What can I say, the boy likes getting his picture taken.  Any time I have the camera out he comes running over with a  huge grin.  And yes, I am aware he needs a haircut (see that last picture? it is longer now!).

Cherry Blossom Festival

Well, not really, just the cherry blossoms that had fallen in our neighborhood.  My in-laws came for Easter weekend and the day they flew in was absolutely gorgeous!  So we went to the park.  The kids started throwing the petals at each other then my m-i-l started showering the girls with them.  They were having a blast.  Good thing too, since it started raining the next day for almost 2 days!

Divine Mercy Cake

Two cake mixes - one in squares and the other in circles.  I suggest shaping the circles to fit the square before icing the layers together.  And don't forget to 'level' the top (or bottom after you flip it out of the pan).
I only had pink icing, and one can to boot, so I blended it with a whole thing of cool whip, which was probably the best tasting icing I have ever made!
Then I put cherry pie filling on the left and blueberry pie filling on the right.  Easy as that.  It was a big hit at the potluck we went to.
