As we have been getting the house painted, I have come up with all sorts of things that needed replacing or added (read: new light switches, faceplates, vent covers, ceiling fan in living room, door knobs, hinges, and so on). One thing that I have really disliked since we moved in was the shiny gold flush mounted lights in our stairwells. I just haven't been able to justify replacing 5 of them. So since our painter said it would be easy enough to remove them while he was painting, in fact making his job somewhat easier, I decided to spray paint them black to match the rest of our main floor lights.
